Tourist taxes are spreading fast. Scotland and Wales now let councils charge visitor levies, and most popular European cities have raised their rates in the last two years. The rules are usually buried in council PDFs and differ from place to place.

This site puts each one on a single page: what you'll pay, who's exempt, when it starts, and a calculator for your stay.

How we check rates

Every page lists its sources and the date we last checked them. We use official council and government pages wherever we can. Where a scheme is new or the official page is unclear, we use reliable published reporting and say so.

Figures are estimates for planning. Your accommodation or the local authority has the final say.
